Etihad Airways Unveils Fast & Furious 777

Etihad Airways, the national airline carrier of the United Arab Emirates, and Universal Pictures have unveiled a specially decaled luxury Boeing 777 aircraft at the Los Angeles International Airport last March 18, 2015. This is in connection with the release of the latest installment of the movie series Fast & Furious, which is Furious 7.

A specially decaled Boeing 777 that bears the words Fast & Furious 7 arrived at the Los Angeles International Airport. Hollywood Actor-producer Vin Diesel was present when Etihad Airways Flight 171 arrived after flying from Abu Dhabi. The aircraft’s arrival will pave way to prepare for the global premiere of the movie, which is set to start on April 1, 2015. Furious 7 will be shown in theaters starting April 3. However, fans from the UAE will get to see the movie first, which will be released a day earlier than the official US release date.

The Fast & Furious 777 aircraft will fly direct between Abu Dhabi and Los Angeles. Etihad Airways is also a sponsor of the world premier of the movie Furious 7, which takes place in Los Angeles.

Abu Dhabi became a key location for the film’s production. Last April 2014, the film crew shot scenes at the Liwa Desert, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Emirates Palace Hotel, the Yas Marina F1 race circuit and the Etihad Towers.

“Etihad Airways is one of the fastest-growing airlines in the world with a strong history of culture and innovation and a commitment to reimagining the travel experience for our guests,” Peter Baumgartner, chief commercial officer of Etihad Airways, said. “We are pleased to work together with Universal, an organisation that shares that same spirit of innovation and reimagination when it comes to the world of entertainment, to unveil our newly-decaled Boeing 777 aircraft in support of the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise and ‘Furious 7’, which premieres next month and highlights our airline’s home of Abu Dhabi.”

“When we began filming ‘The Fast and the Furious’ in 2000, if you told me that we would one day have our logo on a wide-body jet, I would have said you were crazy,” said producer Neal H. Moritz. “We are so honoured that Etihad has partnered with us to support this very personal film, and we thank the people of the United Arab Emirates for all the kindness and graciousness they showed throughout production,” he added.

The “Fast & Furious 7” decal will remain on the plane for the next four to six months.

Just recently, Etihad Airways revealed its latest celebrity ambassador, Nicole Kidman, who is set to promote the airline’s newest global campaign of Flying Reimagined, featuring the luxurious A380 aircraft.
