Interview with Rachi aka “LiveLoveFly”

Can you tell us more about yourself?

I am Rachi or livelovefly in the blogosphere. I am 28 years old. I’ve been flying for three and a half years now. I am originally from Quezon City, Philippines. I recently got married last December 2013.

Where is your airlines based?

My airline is based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

How did you become a cabin crew? How many times did you apply?

Before applying in my current airlines, I applied around four times with other airlines but was not accepted. On my first application with my current company, I got the job and was approved for training. Why did you apply for this job? – Based on your answer, were those goals justified?

Being a flight attendant was one of my dream professions. It’s cool because I get to see the world and get paid doing it.

What’s the best thing about the job?

It’s the layovers. I get to stay in fancy hotels and have free time to roam/tour the city.

What’s the worst/hardest thing about the job?

It’s being away from my loved ones most of the time. I always miss important events and occasions.

What were common misconceptions that you found out about cabin crews? Were those misconceptions proven right or wrong?washington dc

People think that this job is very easy, all fun and laughter, but it’s actually quite a challenge. You have to be serious like in any other job. It can be very stressful sometimes and patience should be your number one virtue.

Any favorite place/s that you always visited in your flights?

Honestly, I like all our destinations. Each place for me has its own charm. I like and would always want to go to Toronto because my brother is there. I like New York, Washington, Paris, Rome, and London because these cities are always a sight to behold. I like Washington, London, Delhi, Kuala Lumpur, and Guangzhou because their shops have great bargains and I can always go on a shopping spree. I like Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi, Kuala Lumpur, and Guangzhou for their awesome hotels.

What are your tips to cabin crew applicants?

During the screening process, always be beautiful, graceful, and confident. Exude positivity and strike a balance between being friendly and being professional.empire state building

How long are you planning to stay in this job? Any plans of transferring to another airline?

I’m planning to stay in this job with the same airline for another 2 years. Then I’ll be going back to the Philippines to be with my family for good. I’ll find a new job in the Philippines.

What motivates you to keep working?

My motivations are my personal goals: To save money for a new house and car, to afford a Europe tour with my husband, and to have enough savings before I resign and have a baby.
