One of the best tourist places (and our favorite spot) we visited during our trip to Milos Island was Sarakiniko Beach. That’s why I want to write a separate travel blog post about this location. This was part of our Greece trip after I was approved for a vacation leave from my flying job. I’m glad that every now and then I get to travel as a tourist and not just rely on my flight layovers to explore places.
Sarakiniko beach is known for its strange white rock formations, crystal clear waters, and amazing sunsets. These qualities make it one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. If you find yourself on the island of Milos, be sure to visit Sarakiniko Beach.
Note: Please do not confuse Sarakiniko Beach in Milos Island with Sarakiniko Beach in Parga – both of these are in Greece. We made this mistake when we booked a hotel on Booking.com and then we later realized that we interchanged the locations. Anyway, we were glad the hotel refunded us the money and we were able to book a hotel on Milos Island accordingly.

Some of the most popular activities at Sarakiniko Beach include swimming, sunbathing, and exploring the rocks.
We went there around 3:30 pm and the sun was still high up.
The white rocks at Sarakiniko Beach are actually volcanic in origin. They were created by a volcano that erupted many years ago and then cooled and hardened into the strange formations that you see today. How to get to Sarakiniko Beach?
The best way to get to Sarakiniko Beach is by car or ATV, or motorbike. There is a large parking lot located right at the entrance. The drive from Adamas (the main town on Milos Island) takes about 20 minutes.
You can also take a taxi, but it will be more expensive.
In our case, we were able to rent a car for a day (EURO 35 – smallest automatic car we’ve driven) and we followed Google Map location of the area which took us to the nearest parking area.
There are also a few tour companies that offer day trips to Sarakiniko Beach from Adamas. These tours typically include stops at other popular tourist destinations.
Again, if you don’t have an international driving license, the best way is to hire a taxicab to take you to this place.
Once you’re at the beach, there are plenty of things to do. You can go swimming, hiking, sunbathing, exploring, and more. And don’t forget to take some photos! The views are truly incredible.

Cats in Milos
During our visit, we bought some snacks and alcoholic bottle drinks from the foodtruck at the entrance. We headed to one of the spots and had a quick picnic.
One of the things you might notice are a few cats who are accustomed to tourists. They are harmless and would usually come to you for some food. So if you have some snacks with you, don’t be surprised if one or two approach you.
Cliff Jumping from the Rocks
One of the fun and more adventurous activities to do is cliff jump. The water is deep and you can see many guys and girls taking their turns jumping off the cliffs.
Of course, this is not for everyone and you should only do it if you’re comfortable with heights. But if you’re feeling brave, it’s definitely something to try!
In my case, we jumped off the cliff and it was really fun! The view from up there is also breathtaking. For those who don’t want to jump, you can just people-watch and enjoy the sights and sounds of the waves crashing against the rocks.
